Abstract
From the portfolio management standpoint, other authors have demonstrated the low covariance of natural disasters with changes in economic variables. In this article, the diversification effects of including catastrophic exposure in a portfolio are directly examined. Results show the diversification benefits of adding such alternative assets to traditional investment positions.
