Abstract
Despite some high–profile problem cases, the author maintains that many hedge funds are doing just fine. Although a number of “macro funds” have had difficulty generating attractive returns during the last few years, in many cases the problem is mediocre gains, not dramatic losses. Moreover, the high–profile problems in the macro area flow from the risk management side of the investment process, not the return generation side.
